  • REDMOND, Washington: Redmond Reporter Police blotter for Jan. 2-4; “Redmond police took a mail-theft report at 3:54 p.m. in the 15800 block of Northeast 95th Way.”
  • CENTENNIAL, Colorado: – Family targeted by thieves twice in a month; “”On New Year’s Eve, somebody steals my packages and my mail,” he said. “She just goes up, takes my stuff, runs away and drives off. Right in the middle of the day.””

  • HAVASU, Arizona: Woman reports mail theft to Havasu police; “A woman reported a theft at Clarke Plaza Tuesday after someone stole two envelopes containing checks from a mail box.
  • KING COUNTY, Washington: Kent Reporter Woman pleads guilty to mail theft from throughout King County; “Bobbie Denise Catton and her cohorts stole large volumes of mail between March 2013 and January 2014 from homes and apartment complexes throughout King County, according to court records.”
  • THOMPSON FALLS, Montana: – Storage unit break-ins, stolen mail reported in Sanders County; “Authorities also report that they’ve seen a recent spike in mail theft cases and stolen packages on rural routes.”
  • BAKERSFIELD, California: ABC 23 Residents hold town meeting to discuss options with law enforcement on dealing with mail theft; “Residents in a community Southwest of Bakersfield are fed up with mail theft. They say their mail has been continuously stolen over the past two years.”

  • ST. MARY’S, Maryland: – Police in St. Mary’s tracking mail thefts; Gift cards stolen during holidays: “At the other end of St. Mary’s County, a large amount of mail was found discarded on Dec. 26 on a lane off New Market Turner Road near Mechanicsville.”
  • WALLA WALLA, Washington: Union Bulletin Mail theft added to list of local woman’s charges; “Officials say Gardner was in a vehicle July 31 and involved in stealing mail from various residents’ mailboxes in the county. Some pieces were thrown from the car and scattered on roadways, according to a Sheriff’s Office report filed in court.”

  • ROSEVILLE, Minnesota: Roseville, New Brighton Police Warn of Mail Theft Risk During Tax Season; “Roseville authorities have seen several cases of mail theft in the past year and have even held meetings at Roseville City Hall to talk about the crimes. Also, New Brighton officers recovered stolen mail from more than 100 addresses throughout the city back in December.”

  • KITTIAS COUNTY, Washington: Daily Record News 3 arrested for alleged mail, ID theft; “Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three people around Cle Elum in connection with a drug and fraud operation in the Upper County, recovering stolen mail and documents intended for identity theft, investigators said.”
  • WAXAHACHIE, Texas: – Column: I hate thieves; “Contrary to the reputation of a thief, they are not lazy or stupid. From Ponzi schemes, check fraud, and mail fraud to breaking and entering, computer hacking, and identity theft, these guys are clever, energized, technologically advanced, and straight up jerks.   • HIGHLAND, California: CBS Los Angeles 2 Men Accused Of Forgery, Mail Theft Arrested In Highland; “The two men drove to a nearby shopping center, where they opened numerous pieces of mail, and stole checks, identification and personal information. Authorities said in about a ten minute period, Lemus and Lopez were able to steal at least seven checks, and altered one check by changing the recipient’s name from a utility company to Lopez’s name.”
  • BOILING SPRINGS, South Carolina: Several mailboxes damaged in Boiling Springs subdivision; “Spartanburg County deputies are investigating after mailboxes were damaged in the Paisley Pointe subdivision early Saturday morning.”

  • HIGHLAND, California: Press Enterprise HIGHLAND: Meth, stolen mail, fake IDs found; 2 arrested; “A report of two men stealing from a Highland mailbox led sheriff’s deputies to the discovery of methamphetamine, stolen checks and fake IDs.
  • SONOMA COUNTY, California: Sonoma County Gazette Stolen Mail – Stolen Identities in Sonoma County; “The women were discovered in large amounts of stolen mail belonging to up to 190 different potential victims during a routine traffic stop in November of 2014.”
  • HIGHLAND, California: Highland Community News Mail thefts uncovered in Highland; “As the investigation continued, deputies recovered dozens more stolen, forged and fraudulent checks from probable victims in numerous Southern California cities including Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Highland, San Bernadino, Riverside and more.”
  • VICTOR VALLEY, California: Victorville Daily Press Hundreds of rural mailboxes broken open: USPS official says door-to-door delivery ‘not going to happen’; “Residents are frustrated after hundreds of mailbox break-ins in rural areas of the Victor Valley. Many rural residents get their mail from large community mailboxes, which include dozens of individual boxes. The boxes have become a target for vandals and thieves who may be attempting to steal residents’ identities.”

  • VERNON COUNTY, Missouri: – Man Arrested for Stealing Mail; “The mail is believed to have been stolen from nearly 25 victims in the county, most of whom did not even know they had any missing mail until a detective knocked on their door and returned it.”
  • ST. CHARLES, Illinois: Kane County Chronicle – St. Charles man charged in mail theft incidents; “A 21-year old St. Charles man has been charged with 12 counts of theft under $500 stemming from mail theft incidents St. Charles police reported in December.”

  • EVERETT, Washington: HeraldNet Snohomish County hit with recent wave of mail theft; “In Lake Stevens last month, there were roughly 70 complaints of stolen mail, including many packages. Typically, the thieves are looking for money, checks and credit cards. Then again, simple mail theft can lead to bigger things. Bits of information, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth, can be cobbled together to develop profiles and steal identities.”
  • HUNTSVILLE, Alabama: WAFF 48 – Police: Thief checks out checks from victim’s mailbox; “A man stole money by using a forged check in the drive-though at the Redstone Federal Credit Union on Lawson Ridge in Huntsville Dec. 12. Where did this crook get this check? According to police, he stole it from the victim’s mailbox, of all things.”

  • TULSA, Oklahoma: Thief admits to stealing mail all over town; “Tulsa police say Eddie Robertson confessed to stealing mail from mailboxes all over town. Robertson would then make counterfeit checks, with checks he found in the mail.”

  • TUSCON, Arizona: Tuscon News Now – Attempted mail thefts reported near 18th, Park; “Kathryn snapped pictures, made calls and reached out to her neighbors when she noticed all of the mailboxes on her block were open on two separate days this week.”

  • LAKE STEVENS, Washington: KIRO 7 Mail theft skyrocketing in Snohomish, Island counties; “Mail theft is skyrocketing. In Lake Stevens alone, there have been 70 cases of stolen mail in the last month. Police said they think they’re dealing with full-time mail and identity thieves.”

  • ROSEVILLE, California: Rocklin Today Roseville Mail Theft Leads to Arrest of 34 Year Old; “Inside the truck, officers found burglar’s tools and numerous pieces of stolen mail.”
  • PENNGROVE, California: Penngrove man sentenced to prison for identity theft; “Christopher Matheson, 37, a parolee who absconded from state supervision, was sentenced this week in connection with a case that yielded 100 counterfeit credit cards in his home in various stages of completion, along with stolen mail, stolen Social Security cards, birth certificates and credit reports.”

After a series of mail thefts in his Rustler's Ranch neighborhood, Sichter organized his neighbors to purchase the new box set-up and move it to a more visiible area of the block. CLOUD, Minnesota: St. Cloud Times St. Cloud residents urged to be wary of mail theft; “St. Cloud police are urging residents to be vigilant in light of several recently reported cases of mail theft. Police believe the mail being targeted are W-2 forms, with the intent to file fraudulent tax returns to obtain someone else’s refund money, according to the news release.”
  • BRENTWOOD, California: Contra Costa Times Brentwood police calls Jan. 7-18; “Mail Theft — At 10:03 a.m., a person called police to report that they found a pile of mail on Foothill Drive, and that some packages had been open with contents missing. Mail Theft — At 10:06 a.m., Livermore police reported to Brentwood police that they had arrested two individuals for possession of stolen mail, and that some of the mail recovered was addressed to Brentwood residents. Brentwood police filed a report for investigative purposes.”
  • ST. CLOUD, Minnesota: WJON Police Report Several Mailbox Thefts; Several reports of stolen mail are coming into the St. Cloud Police Department. Police say based upon the time of year, it appears thieves are targeting W2 forms in an effort to file fraudulent tax returns to obtain someone else’s refund money.
  • WALLA WALLA, Washington: Union-Bulletin Woman pleads guilty in stolen car pursuit case; “Still pending against Gardner, of 53192 Ballou Road, Milton-Freewater, is a charge of mail theft, accusing her of stealing mail from various residents’ mailboxes in Walla Walla County on July 31.”
  • ST. CLOUD, Minnesota: KVSC FM – SCPD Warns of Mail Being Stolen from Residential Mailboxes; “The St. Cloud Police Department has recently received a number of complaints of mail being stolen from residential mailboxes.”
  • ANCHORAGE, Alaska: Alaska Native News ‘Superman,’ Three Mail Theft Co-Conspirators Charged in 18-Count Indictment; “Escalante, also known as “Superman” by his associates, was the leader of the mail theft ring, and had solicited the others to steal mail as well as IDs which he would then alter, then use to cash stolen checks. In exchange for the stolen IDs and mail, “Superman” would supply the co-conspirators with methamphetamine.”

  • WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wisconsin: Daily Tribune – Wednesday police: Pills stolen, woman arrested; “At 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, a Wisconsin Rapids man reported possible mail fraud. At 5:12 p.m. Tuesday, a Wisconsin Rapids woman reported someone stole mail from the 2800 block of Boles Street.”
  • CANELO, Arizona: The Weekly Bulletin Canelo residence burglarized; mailboxes targeted; “A Canelo woman said for two days in a row she had been missing mail from her mailbox at the intersection of Membrillo Lane and State Route 82. The woman said she received mail on a daily basis and therefore something was obviously wrong.”
  • WOODSIDE, California: Almanac News Police calls; “Forgery and mail theft: A resident of Woodside Way told deputies that he was missing a monthly check, and that he’d learned that the check had been cashed early in December, but not by him. Estimated loss: $1,100. Jan. 8.”
  • TORRANCE, California: Daily Breeze Torrance mail thief sentenced to 5 years in prison; “He was arrested in December 2013 in New Mexico, where investigators found checks, credit cards, various forms of identification issued in other people’s names, credit card statements, bank statements and other items sent through the mail.”

  • LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas: KTHV – Your outgoing mail may not be making it to the post office; “Postal inspectors placed a camera in a tree after receiving dozens of complaints over missing checks in a specific area. “We were able to observe the same individual coming at the same time frame every other day or every two days and taking the mail,” said US Postal Inspector Reldys Torres.”
  • ST. CLOUD, Minnesota: Saint Cloud Times Mail theft could target tax forms, checks, police say; “Police say several members of the public have reported stolen mail after their mailbox was left open, outgoing mail they left in their mailbox never reached its target, or they didn’t receive mail they were expecting.”
  • LEBANON, Oregon: Lebanon Express Police arrest woman for mail theft; “Lebanon Police Department personnel determined that Baker and others working with her have stolen a large amount of mail from the Lebanon and Albany areas, according to the release.”
  • PLEASANTON, California: Arrest in Mail Thefts; “The Pleasanton Police Department investigated several recent thefts of mail from the Pleasanton Meadows neighborhood. During one of the investigations, a resident saw a subject rummaging through a neighbor’s mailbox.”
  • MANHATTAN BEACH, California: The Beach Reporter – Crime Reports: Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach; “On Monday, Dec. 29, on the 1000 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard, officers initiated a traffic stop for code violations and discovered the driver and passenger were both on parole for robbery. A search of the vehicle revealed that mail, addressed to various people from Manhattan Beach and El Segundo, had been stolen. Two women were arrested on suspicion of mail theft.”
  • WATAUGA, Texas: The Dallas Morning News Watauga couple sentenced for stealing mail; “A Watauga man and his girlfriend were sentenced to federal prison this week for stealing mail from residential mailboxes in Roanoke, Southlake, and Keller, the U.S. attorney’s office announced Thursday.”
  • ROANOKE, Texas: Star-Telegram Couple sentenced to prison for stealing mail; “An investigation began after residents started complaining that their mail was stolen. One person police that an American Express card was mailed to a Southlake residence, but it was never received, according to a news release.
  • LEBANON, Oregon: Albany Democrat-Herald – Police believe suspect stole large amount of mail for identity theft; “Lebanon Police Department has recovered a small amount of stolen mail, which will be returned to the recipients. The rest of the mail has not been recovered and the investigation is continuing.”

  • WALLA WALLA, Washington: Union-Bulletin Trial postponed in mail theft case; “A new trial date has been set for a College Place woman accused of having mail that was stolen from multiple addresses in December and amassing stolen bank account information.”
  • SAN MARCOS, California: CBS 8 Cameras get a real good look at mail thief; “A bold thief who walked right up to a house in San Elijo Hills and swiped a package off the porch was caught on surveillance camera.”
